50th Anniversary Poster – 1972

1972 Polaris 50th Poster - Starfire Kids - Midnight Blue Express

1972 was not the most stellar year for the Starfire kids, but there was some extraordinary breakthroughs. Laverne Hagen, Doug and Stan Hayes began a love affair with the Sioux St. Marie Michigan enduro race that is still in high gear today. Dorothy Mercer broke out as not only an outstanding woman driver, but one who could whip the boys just as easy. Larry Rugland’s 650 was “one of those machines” that just won every where it went, and the team introduced the Starfire machine name that would carry the team into battle for the next five seasons.

This poster was created for the Polaris 50th Anniversary in 2004.
