This is a very rare photo… in 1974, Burt Bassett, Leroy Lindblad and Wes Pesek won the I-500 in Sault St. Marie Michigan. There are very, very few photos of the event and the machine. Here is the machine for sure, and I think that is either Burt or Wes driving!
The 1974 win was the start of a dynasty – as Burt, Leroy and Larry Rugland have all been involved with winning I-500 teams ever since.. including last years winner, Gabe Bunke.
