James “Jim” LeRoy Hedlund was born on August 21, 1947 to Chester and Fern (Snow) Hedlund in Roseau, MN.

Jim grew up on a dairy farm.  He enjoyed the rural life and developed a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, and “tinkering”. He graduated from Roseau High School in 1965. Jim and Beverly Norquist were married on December 21, 1968. Jim was employed by two snowmobile companies – Brutanza Engineering of Brooten, MN and Polaris Industries of Roseau, MN. At Polaris he was also a member of the race team, “The Midnight Blue Express”. Following Chester’s retirement, Jim took over his turkey operation from 1982 – 1995.

Jim started his own business in 1996 with a multi-station press which he built himself. It was for rebuilding crankshafts for snowmobiles and watercraft. Jim could build and fix absolutely anything!

Jim passed away at the Warroad Care Center at the age of 74 on November 3, 2021. He is survived by his wife Bev; son Darren (Carrie); grandchildren Beau, Camdyn and Taylor of Roseau; brother Carson (Peggy) of Roseau and sister Pam Nelson (Carl Kiser) of Wadena, MN and several nieces and nephews.
