So how much horsepower did they REALLY have back in the day?

Here’s some fun info from you. This is direct from Troy Pierce digging through the *original* dyno sheets from Polaris:

  • 1975 PDC 440 engine: 87-89 HP
  • 1976 440 Liquid kit (snopro) 91-94 HP
  • 1977/78 RXL Triple 440: 102-103.5 average, best one (Bunkes 77 440) 105 HP
  • 1977 individual cylinder 340: 75 HP
  • 1978 Monoblock 340 (Super mod pipes): 81 HP
  • 1977/89 250 RXL: The best one hit 54.9 HP
  • Done recently: TX 440 vintage racing 440 w/reed valves added and insane amounts of work on the pipes and ignition: 100HP. I am sworn to secrecy on whose motor that is but it is NOT Matt Goede’s.
